The Society is
hosting a car show on the grounds of the William Miller and the Daniel
Hawkins houses on North Country Road in Miller Place. The Long Island
Street Rod Association has volunteered to help organize a fund raiser
for the Society. Members of LISRA will display their privately owned hot
rods, custom street rods and muscle cars. The Long Island Greyhound
Transfer will have some retiring greyhounds on site to educate the
public about their plight and for potential adoption. There will be a
50/50. No alcoholic beverages or pets, please. Admission is $6/children under
12 free.

open The historic William Miller House is open
for tours every Saturday from 1:00-4:00pm until September 21. This is the
oldest existing house in Miller Place. The original section was built in
1720 when only 4-5 other homes also stood in Miller Place. This tour is
a treasure of information. Groups are welcome. A $3 donation is
requested. All donations are used for the preservation/restoration of
the house.
Mt. Sinai 4th
grade visitation to the William Miller House. This program meets the 4th
grade curriculum for New York State. For additional information please

General Meeting to be
held at the Mt. Sinai Senior Center located on Route 25A. Guest speaker
Stephanie Costanza will provide a garden talk. This is open to the
public. Refreshments will be provided.

Country Fair
Young and old will enjoy visiting
the grounds during the annual country fair. Come and see how people lived
in the 1700’s. Visitors will be able to taste, smell and see what Miller
Place was like 300 years ago. Demonstrations will include a
blacksmith, potter, basket weaver, spinning, colonial cooking , and
more. Members: free, nonmembers: small

Ghost Stories
Did you know that you have some great
ghostly tales right here in your backyard? Come and listen to some local
Ghost Stories about Miller Place, Mount Sinai and Port Jefferson. This is a "drop-off" program
and is one hour in length. A snack is included. This program is
appropriate for Grades 1-5.
To register, complete the registration form and mail, along with your
check for the appropriate amount to the address on the form. Cost: $7 members;
$10 non-members.

Children of all ages are welcome
to join us for hot cocoa and cookies, while mailing that all important
letter to Santa. Postman Pete will be on hand to hand cancel your letter
and personally see that the letter gets to Santa. Children also receive a
letter back from Santa. Pre-registration is required for this event.
